For your information in the Tanjung Putting national park, there are two types of orang-utan, orang-utan is the first origin live in the park and we called the wild orangutans and the second was rehabilitated 'orangutan or the ex-captive Orangutans confiscated and rescue once people who love them as pets. For the wild orangutans, it is difficult to play with them or because of their fear of the animals and with the man. For example, if your fruit on the ground, they can never take away or disappear from sight. If the former prisoners and rehabilitated Orangutans, you have a chance to play or interact with them.

Orangutan tower in May or your trip to the feeding time in, they want to play with you. Take your hand and walk in the jungle, so they act as your guide the jungle :-), riding in the back or something else. It is also recommended not to eat, but in some cases, as long as you feed them with their natural food such as fruit. For your information, the fact that their own food in the jungle, as many different types of fruit, leaves, bark, termites, asparagus, and very rare, they eat small birds or eggs if they exhausted their food. In anticipation of the competition for food in the park and the fruits of the season is over there is a time for eating once a day. We give them fruit and milk as a food supplement and find the rest in the jungle.

Many of the orangutans who are still in rehabilitation restored in the middle of the station for a visit to Camp Leakey rangers and interact with the news of the orangutans. Sometimes you can also met with Orangutans in the wild while walking around the camp Leakey, also a research domain.

Wanto, I had the most fantastic journey Orangutans. It is probably one of the best experiences of my life and something that remains with me always. I plan to return (with Michael) next year. I am happy to be able to visit many beautiful places in the world, but I can honestly say that I have never been investigated, after all, so that you and your team.

It was nice to go home to see my family and friends, I miss, but the jungle and orangutans terrible. Fortunately, I have a lot of photos to remind me next week and I had a conversation with my son from school to tell them all about my adventure with Orangutans and hope to teach in a short course on the Orangutans. Wanto - thank you again. I will be back in touch next year to book a return flight. (Anna ROME YELLOW - UK)

History of Malang and IdentityRegency
Many years ago, before Malang became the second biggest city in East Java Province, Malang used to be the government center of Kanjuruhan and Singosari Kingdom. Here are some names of places that could support the history of Malang Regency born:
  • Kanjurahan written in the inscription in 760 AD, now it has changed into Kanjuron (a place near Dinoyo).
  • Balandit, written in the inscription in 929 AD, now it has changed into Belandit (a place in the Eastern part of Singosari).
  • Tuyan, written in the inscription in 929 AD, now it has changed into Turen (a place in the Southern part of Malang)
  • Panawijyan, written in the inscription in 943 AD, now it has changed into Polowijen, the name of a Ward Administrative Unit in Malang Municipality.
  • Hantang, written in the inscription in 1135 AD, now it has changed into Ngantang (45 km West of Malang).
  • Katinden, written in the inscription in 1395 AD, now it still uses that name up to the present time (15km North of Malang).
  • Mandragiri, written in the Javanese History Book "Negara Kertagama ", is the name of a hill that is now known a "Mandaraka", it belongs to Singosari Sub District (7 km North of Malang).

A part from the above references, there are still many other references supporting the history of Malang such as: the name of hills, rivers and archeological remains (temples, stupas, gates, and many others).
Some government center, that used to be here, are:

  • Kanjuruhan Kingdom, 8th century AD that was centered around Dinoyo now.
  • Singosari Kingdom, 13th century AD that was centered around Singosari Sub District now.
And here, some other evidence that government centers have ever existed in Malang, they are:

In the following era, Malang Regency still became an important place when the government of Mataram Hindu Kingdom took hold of the area. Therefore, Malang has been the largest regency in East Java Province and since then the development of Malang Regency itself has actually been known since there was a regular government being existed. In this case, we have some reasons to support it,

  • We found the central government activities along the Brantas river.
  • We found the other central activities at the other places in Malang.
  • The growth of Malang Regency population is the result of the historical process, from 8th century up to now.
  • The day of Malang Regency born was closely connected with the time when the oldest central government was found in Malang.

Upon the above reasons, the birth of Malang Regency was finally discovered and appointed using the following points:

The Story of Offering Kasada Ceremony
Hundreds years ago, during the reign of the last king of Majapahit, Brawijaya, the situation was so uncertain due to the expanding new religion, Islam. At the time, the queen gave birth a baby girl and named her Roro Anteng, later the princess married Joko Seger, a Brahma Caste.

Since the influences of the new religion was so strong that it created chaos. The king and his followers were forced to back off to the east, some of them reached Bali and some of them reached a volcano.

The new married couple, Roro Anteng and Joko Seger were also found among the fugitives who went to the volcano. Later they ruled the volcano area and named it Tengger. The word Tengger was derived from Roro Anteng and Joko Seger. Then he surnamed himself the riffle of Purba Wasesa Mangkurat Ing Tengger which means the righteous ruler of Tengger.

Years after year as the region flourished in prosperity, the King and Queen felt unhappy for they had no children to succeed their throne. On their desperation, they decided to climb the top of the volcano to pray and beseech before God, the Almighty. Deeply, impressed by the faith of their meditation affected the murmuring sound of the crater lifted up miraculously followed by a golden lightning that made the surrounding locked so scintillating. Their prayer were heard the God and would give them children, but they should sacrifice their last child as return. It was a promising future that could not be denied.

Not long after, the first baby boy was born and Roro Anteng named him Tumenggung Klewung. Child after child was born during the years and it reached 25 in number to whom she gave the named Kesuma for the last child.

Roro Anteng and Joko Seger were very happy ever since, love and affection were imparted among their children. Happiness lingered on years after years, but a dull and sad feeling still haunted them for their promise would be claimed one day. They realized that they could not run from the fact, a bitter disappointment of losing a child shot through their brains. The day came, the God reminded them of their promise which could not be avoided.

As they felt how cruel it was to sacrifice their beloved child, they decided to break their promise by not offering him to the God. They brought away their children in order to save their last child from the offering. They tried to find a place to hide, however, they could not find away.

All of by sudden, the dreadful eruption of the volcano followed to where they went and miraculously Kesuma, the last beloved child was swallowed into the crater. At the same time when Kesuma disappeared from their sight, turbulent brawl diminished and strange silence for a while but a sudden voice echoed: Hi, my beloved brothers and sisters. It was sacrificed to appear before God Hyang Widi Wasa to save all of you. And what I expect be in a peace and live prosperously. Don't forget to set mutual assistance among you and to worship God constantly to arrange an offering ceremony annually on 14th of Kasada (the twelfth month of Tenggerese calendar) by full moon. For the sake of your God. Hyang Widi Wasa.

Kesuma's Brothers and sisters held the offering ceremony annually just like what Kesuma advised and it was held from generation to generation up to now.
